We heard it was National Dog Day
Yesterday was National Dog Day. While we have a whole bunch of pups we could thank and celebrate - I couldn’t let the day pass without writing a little tribute to the two who started it all: Hazel and Rio.
Before we ever raised our first litter, Hazel and Rio were just our family. They walked through major life milestones with us, and made our home so much fuller. We lost Rio a few years ago, but his memory is still here (and into the eyes of so many puppies running around today). Sweet Hazel is currently living her absolute best life as our front porch girl. Her daily schedule consists of sunbathing, sneaking food off counter edges, and in our beds at night.
These two taught us everything we know about the true value of intentional and ethical breeding. Specifically, prioritizing health and temperament above all else. They showed us firsthand how much healing, joy, and calm a well-bred dog can bring into a home.
When we first started, we never could have anticipated one of the coolest parts of breeding: seeing their specific traits and goofy quirks show up even three generations down.
